Taking a screenshot is an essential functionality of the Flip 3 5G that you will most likely use often. When you reach a certain level in a game you are playing and want to document it you can easily do it by taking a screen capture. You might also want to take a screenshot of an important document on your phone.

If you just got a brand new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G and are wondering how to capture your phone’s screen then here are the different ways to do it.

Method 1: Taking screenshots on your Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G using the hardware keys

The quickest way you can take a screenshot on your Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is by simultaneously pressing the hardware keys. This is the traditional method of taking a screenshot.

The two buttons you will be using are the power key and the volume down key. You will find both buttons on the side of the phone.

Press the power button, and volume down button at the same time. Do not release the keys until the screen flashes white.

When the screen flashes white this means that the screenshot has been successfully taken. You will then see a small menu bar appear at the bottom of the screen. This menu bar will have three button. In case your phone refuses to take a screenshot then you will need to perform several troubleshooting steps.

Here’s what you need to do.

Restart your phone

If you haven’t restarted your phone in awhile then I suggest you do so now. Restarting the phone will close all of the running apps and reboot your phone operating system.

Turn off the Flip 3 by pressing and holding the Bixby button and the volume down button on the side of the device.

Choose Power off.

Choose Power off again. The device will turn off.

Wait for a few seconds.

Press and hold the Bixby button on the side of the device to turn on the Samsung phone.

Run the Flip 3 in Safe Mode

If you can take a screenshot on your phone prior to downloading an app from the Google Play Store then there’s a possibility that this app is preventing you from taking a screenshot.

You should start the Flip 3 in Safe Mode to check if a third party app is causing the problem.

Safe Mode

Turn the device off.

Press and hold the Side key past the model name screen appearing on the screen.

When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Side key.

Immediately after releasing the Side key, press and hold the Volume down key.

Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.

When Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume down key.

While in Safe mode, you can now uninstall apps that are causing a problem.

If you are not experiencing the problem on this mode then it’s likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

You can then exit out of this mode by restarting your Flip 3.

Exit from Safe Mode

Press and hold the Side key.

Tap Restart > Restart.

The device will restart in standard mode and you can resume normal use.

Perform a hardware test

you might not be able to take a screenshot because all the hardware keys on your mobile phone are not working. to check if this issue is caused by a faulty hardware you should run a test using the Samsung Members app.

To perform a hardware test

Open Samsung Members.

Tap on Get help.

Under Diagnostics tap on Start.

Choose all possible selections.

Tap Start to run the test. This should run for a few seconds.

If there is a hardware failure then you will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Turn off your Samsung Flip 3.

Simultaneously press and hold the Volume up and side buttons until the device vibrates and the Android Recovery screen appears then release all buttons. Allow up to 30 seconds for the recovery screen to appear.

From the Android Recovery screen, select Wipe data/factory reset. You can use the volume buttons to cycle through the available options and the side key to select.

Select Factory data reset. Allow several seconds for the factory data reset to complete.

Select Reboot system now. Allow several minutes for the reboot process to complete.
