How to fix Fitbit Versa that doesn’t always wake up when screen is tapped

Aside from screen wake problems, some Fitbit Versa owners always reported that their trackers don’t always wake up when the screen is tapped. This problem could be just a minor one for as long as the tracker hasn’t been exposed to physical and/or liquid damage. There’s always something you can do about it and that’s what I’m going to share with you in this short post so continue reading as I may be able to help you with this problem.

Before we move on, if you’re here looking for a solution to a different problem, make sure to visit our Fitbit Versa troubleshooting page for we have already solved some of the most common problems with this device. 1. Tap on the band instead of the screen.
  2. Restart your Fitbit Versa as it might be a minor glitch.
  3. Factory Reset your Fitbit Versa to address possible firmware issue.

I suggest that if you’re having this kind of problem, turn the screen wake on so that you don’t have to tap the tracker whenever you want to turn the screen on. Press and hold the left button for a couple of seconds to go to quick settings. From there, you can find “screen wake” which you can turn to auto or manual.

However, if you don’t want your tracker to turn the screen on even with a slight turn of the wrist but wants to use the tap recognition feature, then tap the band instead of the screen. Fitbit Versa is more sensitive when you touch the band under the display (where the band and screen meet). You may also need to restart the device if you feel like its sensitivity decreased as it might be just a result of some glitch. You can do this by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. Try to see if the tap recognition feature works perfectly after this because if not, then you have to do the next procedure.

A factory reset is necessary at this point to bring the tracker back to its default settings and configuration. Doing this will delete your personal settings and apps but it’s often the most effective solution to problems like this. Go to Settings > About > Factory Reset to initiate the reset.
