Difference Between Fitbit Versa and Versa Lite

So you’re looking to pick up a new smartwatch from Fitbit. They have so many different choices that you can pick from, which makes it a little more difficult to choose. However, if you’re down to looking at just the Versa and the Versa Lite, we’ve got good news for you. We’re going to pit the two against each other in a versus match up below.

Design

The Fitbit Versa takes on a similar design to the Apple Watch. In the case of the Versa and the Versa Lite, both take on that square watch face. That’s not always something that people enjoy, with many wishing that the traditional, circular watch face was available. That said, it’s still an evident watch face that allows you to see all of the details.

The Fitbit Versa Lite is overall just a little smaller than the original Versa. So if you want a slightly slimmer smartwatch, the Versa Lite might be a little more up your alley.

Both are available for small and large wrists, with both types of bands included with your purchase. The Versa and Versa Lite both are available in the same colors, with ten options available.

While both come with a Small and Large band automatically, you can always purchase different types of bands that you can use with the Fitbit Versa and Versa Lite later.  That said, you can always dress your watch up or down, based on the type of event that you’re going to, whether it be casual or professional.

The button setup on the Fitbit Versa and Versa Lite are different as well — both have the power button available on the left side. Then, on the right side, you have another two buttons at the top and bottom that you can use the manipulate different smartwatch features. The Versa Lite doesn’t have any buttons on the right side of the frame.

Hardware

The hardware inside isn’t either smartwatch — the Fitbit Versa or Versa Lite — aren’t super well known, since Fitbit keeps a lot of that in the down-low. However, we will say that the different apps and features in the Fitbit Versa and Versa Lite operate smoothly, which we’re going to attribute to a fast processor and plenty of RAM or memory.

The battery side of the hardware is our favorite aspect of the Versa and the Versa Lite, with both lasting around four days on a charge. Real-world testing shows the watch lasting longer than four days on a charge, which makes this watch ideal for other features as well, such as sleep tracking.

The other difference between the Versa and Versa Lite is that the former has Wi-Fi, but the latter doesn’t.

Software

Where the Fitbit Versa and the Versa Lite differentiate is in the software.

Versa Lite

Features in the Versa Lite — as you would expect out of a Fitbit — are mostly all health-focused. You can track your all-day activity with it, get 24/7 heart rate monitoring, and even the ability to track your sleep stages. The sleep stages are something that many watches have available, but the Versa and Versa Lite come with the battery (4 days and up) that can keep up with it.

You also get female health tracking within the Fitbit app with the Versa Lite. The Versa has so many more fitness features.

Versa

The Versa is, obviously, the upgraded version of the Fitbit Versa. That said, everything that you get in the Versa Lite, you get in the Versa. Besides, you have other software features, like the ability to store and play over 300 songs.

On top of that, you can take advantage of screen workouts that play on your wrist as you do them. And for that extra bit of motivation, these on-screen workouts come with a digital coach that motivates and coaches you through every move.

And just like the Versa Lite, the Versa comes with over fifteen different exercise modes to record workouts. And with all of these, you can connect up to the smartphone GPS for more precise real-time pace and distance features.

You have all of the calling and texting features available here, which works on Android and iOS. However, the ability to call or text back right from the watch is only possible with an Android phone.

Verdict

As you can see, the difference between the Fitbit Versa and Versa Lite are few, mostly coming down to the software features. The differences are enough to have a pretty big difference in price point. That said, if you don’t want all of the fitness tracking features, the Versa Lite might be the way to go, helping you also save money.

But, if you want the full suite of software features available, the full Versa is the better option.
