Smartwatches have taken over the electronics world by storm in just a few, short years after originally launching. Higher end ones can cost you upwards of a few hundred dollars, but come with some amazing features. Cheaper options unfortunately don’t get you much — giving you something that doesn’t last long, nor has a whole lot of features available inside it. So what does that leave for the person that doesn’t want to spend gobs of money on a smartwatch? The answer is the Ticwatch Pro and the Fitbit Versa.

If you’re considering these two products, but aren’t sure which one is better, be sure to follow along with us below — we’ll pit the two against each other and help you make a buying decision that you can be confident in.
Fitbit Versa
Fitbit has been making fitness writs and watches for years now, and the Fitbit Versa is probably their best yet. This one runs on Fitbit’s own software, so you don’t have to worry about it being on Android Wear or Apple’s own Watch Os. Since it runs on its own software, the Fitbit Versa can connect up to almost any smartphone — at least, any smartphone that can download the Fitbit app in order to pair the two together.
As you might imagine, the Fitbit Versa comes with all sorts of different fitness related features — you get built in things like a heart rate monitor, all-day activity tracking, sleep tracking, and more. The Fitbit Versa is actually one of the most impressive smartwatches out on the market, featuring up to four or more days of straight battery life.
If you want to take music with you on the go, the Fitbit Versa allows you to do that easily — you can download over 300 songs to the smartwatch itself, or you can download stations from Pandora or Deezer to stream on the go.
Since the Fitbit Versa is made by a health and fitness company, it does offer easy activity tracking for almost any exercise. There are actually 15 different exercise modes that you can choose from, which allows the Fitbit Versa to supply you with more specific data — you have options like Run or Swim.
The Fitbit Versa is more affordable than most smartwatches out on the market, only costing you around $200. Not only does it make it easy to manage calls and texts hands-free, but it’ll bring a whole new level of efficiency to your fitness activities.

Ticwatch Pro
The Ticwatch Pro might not have nearly as big of a brand name as Fitbit, but this is an excellent smartwatch that you don’t necessarily want to pass up. This one actually runs on Google’s own Wear OS platform, so you can easily use it with almost any Android-based smartphone.
One of the most impressive aspects of the Ticwatch Pro is that you can switch between Smart Mode and Essential Mode. When you’re in Smart Mode, the Ticwatch Pro will last for a standard amount of time — only a couple of days on a full charge. However, if you put it in Essential Mode — which will give you bare bones smartphone functionality, such as time, date, step counter and heart rate — you get around 30 days on a single charge.
You can expand the functionality of TicWatch Pro by downloading apps to it, such as things like MyFitnessPal, Pandora, and more. At a basic level, it already supports some fitness activity, including a step counter, heart rate, calories burned, and more.
You can even use the TicWatch Pro for NFC payments through Google Pay — you’ll never have to take your wallet or smartphone out again to pay for a purchase.
The TicWatch Pro is a little more expensive than the Fitbit Versa, but it’s also still cheaper than most flagship Android smartwatches. It’ll set you back $250, which isn’t as bad as, say, the Galaxy Watch’s $300 price point, but more than the Fitbit Versa’s $200 cost.

Verdict
So, which of the two smartwatches should you get? Ultimately, we recommend picking up the Ticwatch Pro smartwatch. The Fitbit Versa does have its own advantages, but the Ticwatch Pro is more versatile because it runs on Google’s Wear OS — that means that you can expand its functionality in a lot of ways by simply downloading apps to it. That’s not something you can do with the Fitbit Versa. And on top of that, the Ticwatch Pro can sport up to thirty days of battery life, more than almost any smartwatch on the market.
